Bill grew up in Nora and went to North Central High School (1976), where he played on the tennis team. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. Bill went on to serve on Fast Attack Nuclear Submarines in the Navy. He graduated from Harvard Business School in 1987 and joined his family’s material handling business. In 1992, Bill became President of Bastian Solutions and grew the business both domestically and internationally until selling the company to Toyota in 2017. Bill currently serves on several corporate boards, is a philanthropist, and enjoys working with start-up companies. Bill has been married to Nan for 44 years, who also went to North Central High School (1976), has two children and five grandchildren.

Maggie was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated from Butler University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a minor in Environmental Studies. She has experience in operations, project management, philanthropic events, and marketing. Maggie has worked with Bill Bastian in a variety of business ventures. Maggie is excited to help create a place where children, families, and the community can benefit from the same positive experiences that organized sports provided throughout her own childhood.

Scott Schmelzer serves as Founding Racquet Sports Consultant for Panther Athletica. A lifelong competitive tennis player, he has spent his career on the coaching and business side of sports, including serving as Executive Director of Pearson Automotive Tennis Club and as inaugural GM during the opening of Five Iron Golf in Indianapolis. He leads the North American operations for a smart court technology company, giving him insight into how the best facilities deliver a modern player experience. At Panther Athletica, Scott focuses on building a club where players of every level feel at home and have access to the best in programming, technology, and community. Scott and his wife Anna are expecting their first child in December 2026.

Rajeev Ram is an American professional tennis player born in Denver, Colorado, and raised in Carmel, Indiana. A six-time Grand Slam doubles and mixed doubles champion and former world No. 1, and two-time Olympic silver medalist, he founded the Rajeev Ram Foundation to support Indiana youth tennis.

Melissa has been a part of the Indianapolis Community Tennis Program (ICTP) for over 30 years, serving as Director for the past eight. Her journey with ICTP reflects her deep-rooted belief in the power of sport to shape lives, build stronger communities, and create opportunities that extend far beyond the court. As director, she is passionate about breaking down barriers to access and ensuring people of all backgrounds have the opportunity to experience the same benefits. As a North Central High School graduate (1995), Melissa is especially excited and honored to partner with Panther Athletica to bring a world-class facility to the Nora community. Together, they share a vision of expanding opportunities, empowering the next generation, and bringing the transformative power of sport to individuals and families throughout the Indianapolis community. 

Allison Copeland is a passionate advocate for youth development and expanding access to tennis throughout the Indianapolis community. As President of the Indianapolis Tennis and Education Foundation (ITEF) and through her involvement with the Indianapolis Community Tennis Program (ICTP), Allison is committed to creating opportunities for children to discover tennis and experience its lasting benefits. Through her work with these organizations, Allison believes tennis is about much more than the game itself. It teaches discipline, perseverance, sportsmanship, resilience, and respect—life skills that help children succeed both on and off the court. She is passionate about removing barriers to participation and ensuring more children have access to quality instruction, facilities, mentorship, and a welcoming tennis community. As a parent of a competitive junior tennis player, as well as a past collegiate tennis player herself, Allison understands firsthand the impact that supportive coaches, positive role models, and access to opportunities can have on a child’s growth. Combined with her professional background as an Architectural Designer, she brings a collaborative, relationship-focused approach to her community leadership. Through her service with ICTP and ITEF, Allison hopes to help more children throughout Indianapolis discover tennis, build confidence, and develop skills that will serve them for a lifetime. She believes every child deserves the opportunity to pick up a racquet, find their place on the court, and discover what is possible.

Anthony grew up in Indianapolis and attended North Central High School. He is the co-founder of Meyer Najem Corporation, a growing construction management firm with a strong foundation in sports and healthcare construction. The company has since diversified into a wide range of sectors, serving communities throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States. Today, Anthony serves as Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of the employee-owned company, where he enjoys mentoring the next generation of owners. He believes that giving back to the communities a business serves is one of its most important responsibilities, contributing to the well-being and vitality of those communities. Anthony is extremely proud to be part of the Panther Athletica project and to support its community development mission. He and his wife, Liza, have four children and seven grandchildren, all of whom enjoy participating in tennis and padel.

Brian S. Fennerty is a partner at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in Indianapolis, where he advises businesses on corporate transactions, business formation, mergers and acquisitions, and tax planning. A certified public accountant and graduate of Indiana University’s McKinney School of Law, Brian has been recognized by Best Lawyers for his work in corporate, tax, and venture capital law. Brian began playing tennis at age 10 through the Washington Township Tennis Program, later competing at North Central High School and Indiana University. He credits tennis with helping lay the foundation for his success and believes every child deserves the opportunity to experience the same benefits. Through Panther Athletica, Brian hopes to see children of all backgrounds gain access to tennis and the valuable life lessons and opportunities the sport provides.

Emily McClelland is a designer and sales consultant with C&T Design and Equipment Company in Indianapolis, where she has helped clients bring their foodservice visions to life since 2009. A Purdue University graduate and Certified Foodservice Professional, Emily specializes in creating practical, thoughtfully designed spaces that balance each client’s goals, budget, and operational needs.

For Panther Athletica, Emily brings that expertise to the facility’s restaurant and foodservice spaces, supporting a welcoming gathering place for players, families, and the community. As a mother of two, she is excited to contribute to a project that will introduce more children to tennis and create opportunities for families to connect.

Raised in small-town Indiana, Jack brings a blend of abstract, visceral tonality mixed with human truth to his work. After leaving school to build the company, he has since directed for automotive and motorsport brands, outdoor and adventure campaigns, and healthcare and tourism work that lives or dies on finding one honest moment. Jamison is Managing Principal of Veritas Realty, a full-service commercial real estate company headquartered in Indianapolis. His expertise includes leasing, site selection, land assemblage, development, management, finance, and sales of retail, restaurant, and healthcare properties. He is also active in youth athletics, coaching several teams. Jamison worked with Panther Athletica to secure its Nora location and is supporting other aspects of the project. He grew up playing in the Washington Township Tennis Program and competed at Bishop Chatard High School before earning a tennis scholarship to the University of Dayton. He credits tennis with developing his resilience, discipline, confidence, and lifelong relationships. As a parent of four junior tennis players, Jamison understands the challenges of cost, scheduling, and limited access to tournaments, clinics, coaching, and court time. He is passionate about making tennis more accessible, convenient, and affordable for junior players of all levels and backgrounds. He and his wife, Hillary, believe Panther Athletica will be the best thing to happen to central Indiana’s tennis community in their lifetime.

Kati brings a passion for service, family, and community to Panther Athletica. Inspired by the positive impact Washington Township tennis had on her own son, she was honored to join the PA team. A retired cardiac nurse and business owner with husband Mike, Kati has recently enjoyed an interest in project centered design and the creation of welcoming spaces. She is excited to help build a destination where children can learn, families can connect, and athletes can compete.

Michael “Misha” Rabinowitch is a land use and real estate attorney at Dinsmore &
Shohl LLP, where he serves as managing partner of the firm’s Indianapolis office
and as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. Dinsmore served as real estate
counsel to Panther Athletica during its development. Tennis has long been part of
the Rabinowitch family: Misha, his wife Lindsey, and their two children are avid
tennis players, and Lindsey grew up participating in the Washington Township
Tennis Program. Drawing on that experience, Misha and Lindsey believe Panther Athletica can give young people across Indianapolis meaningful access to
tennis—and to the confidence, discipline, resilience, and sense of community the
sport can foster both on and off the court.

Rebecca Calbert, is the founder and principal architect of Calbert Design Group, an architectural first specializing in the design of childcare and early education facilities nationwide. Since 2009, she’s helped childcare owners and developers create inspiring learning environments that balance great design with smart business decisions. When she’s not designing spaces for little learners, you’ll likely find her on the tennis court. Rebecca picked up a racket at age 30 and, 28 years later, still plays four times a week. At 58, she recently celebrated a major personal milestone – hitting the ball hard enough to break her racket strings for the very first time!  Designing childcare centers and chasing tennis balls might seem like an unusual combination, but this project brings two of her favorite worlds together. Game, set, match!” 

Reid Garlock serves on the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Tennis and Education Foundation (ITEF), where he has volunteered for nearly a decade. A scholarship recipient who first picked up a racquet at age 12, Reid knows firsthand how the sense of community within Barbara Wynne’s historic tennis program can positively influence a young life. He brings the same loyalty and enthusiasm to his volunteer work that have defined his 13-year career at Salesforce (ExactTarget). Reid is passionate about ensuring children of all backgrounds and skill levels have access to the life-changing mentorship and opportunities that fueled his own love for the game. Inspired by the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded leaders in Indiana’s tennis community, he looks forward to watching his two young children and their friends become trailblazers of Panther Athletica, helping pave the way for the future of education and racquet sports.

Rick Conner is the Chief Executive Officer of American Structurepoint, a multidisciplinary engineering and architectural firm headquartered in Indianapolis. He has helped grow the company from fewer than 50 employees to more than 850 professionals across 18 design centers in seven states. A Purdue University civil engineering graduate, Rick began his career at American Structurepoint at just 16 years old as an intern. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to mentoring future leaders, supporting education, and investing in the communities he serves. Through his involvement with Purdue University and community organizations throughout Indiana, Rick is dedicated to creating opportunities for the next generation to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.  He is confident Panther Athletica will be a place where young people in our community get exposed to and prosper through the sport of tennis. 

Robert Haecker is an Indiana entrepreneur, business leader, and founder of Triphase Technologies, one of the nation’s leading electronic integration firms. A graduate of Ball State University, Robert has spent nearly 30 years building successful businesses while supporting projects that strengthen communities and create opportunities for future generations. His entrepreneurial journey began at age 14 and has been defined by innovation, leadership, and a commitment to helping others succeed. As a supporter of Panther Athletica, Robert is passionate about expanding access to tennis and padel for children and families throughout the community. He believes sports provide far more than physical activity, helping young people develop confidence, discipline, sportsmanship, and lifelong relationships.
